Hello, and welcome to the Second Hand Sheep. I am Dawn M. Schoenthal and I am an artist. To be more specific, I am a hooker. A traditional rug hooker that is.  I take 100% wool cloth, almost all from used clothing, dye it , cut it and make something useful of it. Not all my pieces are rugs, some are smaller to hang on walls or wear. I believe an item can be  termed useful just because of it's beauty or uniqueness. I also dye wool roving ( or alpaca) to make wearables and "paintings". I am a painter, first and foremost, and so my work represents that style, ( or so I've been told).

Thank you for looking at my gallery. I will , with help, be putting more works and pricing those that are already displayed.

Also, if you will allow the indulgence, I'd like to convey my thanks to an amazing friend, Janine Kilty, ( a beautiful artist that is also featured here on the web), for giving me this site . I  also do so appreciate my husband, Steven for his help and time. Without him, you'd be looking at a blank page..which if I felt minimalistic at the time, would be okay but a tad unamusing after you stare for a while.. ( I am more comfortable with 18th century and earlier, technology.)
